The steps to creating well-fitting armor is a little bizarre, but is the best and easiest way to solid patterns. I will use the patterning of my shoes to show how I patterned the rest of the project. In order to get the most accurate patterns possible, it is best to wear tight-fitting clothing during this process.
After it is wrapped, it is time to take out the duct tape. I think I used 1.5 rolls of duct tape to pattern my entire body. The most important thing to remember is how tight this should be. It should be tight enough so you don't feel any gaps between the tape and your skin, but not so tight that you can't move freely, as this will lead to armor patterns that are too small. For my shoes, I drew the general area of where each armor plate would lie.

Usually, I would cut the tape off before drawing on the armor pattern, but since these weren't attached to me, it was easier to draw on the pattern before cutting it off of my shoe.
The final step to creating the patterns was cutting on the lines I had drawn. This gave a pattern that I could easily trace around to transfer to the foam.
